USB integrated right into a phone, finally

huawei.jpgConnecting your phone to your computer has never been easy for a couple of reasons. The main reason is probably because your cell carrier doesn't want you to be able to link up the two devices — they'd rather you send data via their networks and pay for the right to do so. The other reason is because unless you've got both a phone and a computer with Bluetooth, you'll need to keep a cable with you to hook up, which isn't exactly convenient.

Chinese mobile company Huawei unveiled this sweet concept design this week, and it does a great job of integrating USB into the phone itself, making cables a thing of the past. It sticks a USB plug on a flexible rubber border on the top of the phone, allowing you to plug into a computer directly. While one might say that this isn't necessary with Bluetooth becoming more ubiquitous, you can also charge devices via USB, so this goes much farther than just transferring files. It's a design we'd definitely love to see on future phones.

Isn't this what the Motorola Razor does already? I mean basically it has a mini-USB jack on the side that can plug straight into a computer and charge... I do it all the time! If you're willing to spend the extra 20-30 bucks you can get the Motorola software that will sync all your contacts/appointments over USB and will sync some things via bluetooth as well.
