Relativity Watch, a timepiece only Einstein could love

realitywatch-1.gifWhen you first glance at this animated graphic of the Relativity Watch, you might think its hands stay still while the face rotates. However, things aren't always as they seem. Although its Japanese quartz movement is accurate to an extraordinary degree, we're scratching our heads trying to figure out how the thing works.

Before you get as confused as we are, just ignore those spinning numbers on the face, and rest assured that time remains a constant as always, and those hands on the Relativity Watch continue turning around and around as they normally do on most other analog watches in the universe.

We're not sure how this all fits in with that e=mc2 thing, but it's certainly not going to make you shrink or even disappear if you wear it. Still, we're thinking that the $29 Relativity Watch might have even had Einstein himself relatively confused. For a minute or two.

Took me a minute to realize it's counting down....

I got it in under fifteen seconds. Yes, the numbers might be counting down but it's also spinning with a purpose. It's counting seconds, five revolutions per minute. Five times twelve equals sixty, simple math. I don't think Einstein would have been any more confused than I was. After all it's not Nuclear physics.
