Pain-relieving device is, ironically, a pain in the ass

lifemax_120x203.jpgWhen I'm in pain, I want that pain to stop immediately, because I am a big baby. Give me whatever you've got, be it a fistful of Oxycontin or a device that obviously won't work. Actually, on second though, why don't you just give me all that Oxycontin. You can keep the BS device.

The device in question is the LifeMax TENS Machine, and it supposedly relieves pain and tones the body. How does it do these things? That, my friend, is a great question. TENS apparently stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, which doesn't go too far in explaining exactly what the hell this thing supposedly does. But hey, if you're desperate and no one is around to give you pills, I guess you'll take what you can get.

These things have been around for maybe twenty years. They work by sending electrical impulses to the nerves that counter them, thus turning off the signal from those nerves.

I've have used one and it feels like "the sound of static" on the location that it's placed on the body. It does take away pain, but you're aware that something strange is happening.
