In this corner, weighing in at only 13 ounces (think three 30-GB iPods), the Olympus EVOLT E-410 is a lightweight champion. Slimmer than the Nikon D40, this little guy packs quite the punch with a large 10-megapixel sensor. That many pixels might be overboard for most consumers, but I'm not going to complain too much about a little extra image!
The most exciting feature this DSLR has to offer is the 2.5-inch Live View LCD, which will display things like auto focus, exposure correction, and white-balance adjustment while you're composing your shot. Formerly a highlight of point-and-shoot models, Live View gives you the option of using the LCD instead of the viewfinder if you find that more convenient. (In the "olden days" we needed purchase an extra gadget to do this.) It sure looks like holding the camera to your face is on the way out, folks. Available worldwide come April, the expected price for body-only is $699. I think you're on to something, Olympus.
