If you're a fan of classic science fiction like Forbidden Planet or Flash Gordon, you've got to see this ray gun. The Goliathon 83 Infinity Beam Projector is a meticulously detailed beam weapon crafted by Weta Workshop designer Greg Broadmore. Designed to evoke "nostalgia of a lost age of exploration and discovery," the prop gun comes with its own display case (picture after the jump).

Only 500 Goliathons are being made, each made out of metal and glass parts. I guess we run out of plastic in the future, which actually kind of makes sense. As such, the ray gun weighs 7 pounds. If you think that's steep, you obviously haven't seen the $621 price tag. But can you really put a price on nostalgia? — Peter Pachal
