Asus PDA: Stainless steel entertainment system

asusa_626.jpgWith the iPhone just around the corner, and UMPC devices getting more powerful, are PDAs still worthwhile? Asus thinks so, and to get you excited it's offering up an ultra-thin PDA encased in stainless steel.

Beyond being lightweight and really thin (five-eighths of an inch), the A626 runs Windows Mobile 5.0 and has built-in Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity so you never miss an important e-mail from the boss. If you'd rather slack off while on the road, the shiny device also supports a variety of media formats and Pocket PC games making this one heck of a traveling entertainment center. The A626 has only 128 MB of flash memory, so don't cram too much of the fun stuff on there or you just may not have enough room for that presentation you have to give.

At the very least the stainless steel adds a little class to an aging technology, and you could always use its metal surface as a reflector to signal planes should you get stranded on a deserted island. No word on price or availability at this time.
