Scientists want to bury our CO2 to fend off global warming

co2gas.jpgGlobal warming is the hot button topic of the day, thanks to the spark and charisma of Al Gore and his sassy documentary. Due to all the extra attention the imminent end of the world is getting these days, scientists are trying to come up with all sorts of creative ways to delay our inevitable extinction.

Researchers from the University of Leicester and the British Geological Society think that we should freeze our CO2 and then bury it deep underground. Hey, it worked for nuclear waste! My only question is how we get CO2 coming out of the backsides of our cars and cows into frozen storage tanks. Seems like it would work alright, but that one logistical flaw makes me think that this probably won't happen anytime soon. Keep working at it though guys.

I'm not sure if Mr. Frucci is being glib, but the idea isn't to collect waste CO2 out of the air and freeze it. The idea is to trap it at energy generation plants (burning "dirty" oil and coal) and freeze it there, then sink it. Cars would then be powered by either the clean electricity or hydrogen created from the electricity. The waste gas never makes it into the environment. See now? ;) The technology is actually available now but of course it's a question of money...
