Crazy fireplaces are all the rage these days, apparently. While some of them are a bit too precious for me to ever want, I have to admit that the Cyclone has captured my imagination a bit. Basically, it's a set of columns that you stick in your house that fill up with tall, dancing flames. It's like catching lightning in a bottle, but instead of lightning it's fire, and instead of a bottle it's a big glass column. Yes, exactly like lightning in a bottle.

As you would expect, the Cyclone isn't cheap, but the $3,800 pricetag is actually a bit less than I would expect for such an ostentatious piece of interior decorating. Although I'm not exactly sure if that's for one column or a pair … if it's just for one, a pair of these gets the price up into the more-assuring ludicrous range. — Adam Frucci
