What specifically does this cooler do? The ChillTec is placed between two copper plates, each sporting four heat pipes that lead to a fan-cooled radiator. It works at a low level for general cooling by using just one set of heat pipes to disperse heat. When things get really hot the TEC fires up to full throttle, engaging the second set; this provides what Ultra describes as a "perfect balance of thermo-electric cooling and heat-pipe cooling."
