From the "why didn't we Americans think of this idea" department comes a space-saving coffee maker which looks quite industrial and cool. The Café Invento, designed by studioMOM and being produced by Inventum, a Dutch manufacturer of electrical domestic appliances, has an über-thin wall-like backing that holds the water reservoir. This reservoir holds up to 10 cups of water and is removable.

The Café Invento makes up to two cups of coffee at once, holds coffee or teapods, and automatically shuts off after two hours. It's made of a material called Protact, which is steel with a polymer coating for resisting scratches and the like. No word on availability in the United States, but it sure beats bidding for Mr. Coffee on eBay.
