Air Genie to put regular blimps out of their misery

airgenie.jpg

The blimps that we see flying over televised sporting events might be going the way of the Dodo. Since advertisers are always looking to find new, flashier, and more obnoxious ways to get attention, they're sure to love Tom Shannon's Air Genie.

A spherical blimp covered in 61.5 million LEDs, it's basically a giant, flying ad from Times Square. It'll also be loaded with 30 video cameras, allowing it to project its surroundings on its surface. It just received its patent, so there's no word on when we can expect to see them in the skies, but it's safe to say advertisers will love something this eye-catching. Goodyear blimp, your days are numbered.
