XM Radio evolves with Mini-Tuner and XMRDS

TerkRDS_thing.jpg

XM Satellite Radio been around for quite a while, but ways to access and efficiently use it are continually improving. Terk has taken the lead with several innovative approaches. The XM Mini-Tuner (Model CNP2000, $29.99) is a tiny receiver cartridge that can snap into a wide variety of products. Car units, portables and home units are all available to connect with the Mini-Tuner.

Waking up each morning won't be as dreadful with the XR100 Desktop Radio ($119.95) that accepts the Mini-Tuner. This fancy clock radio features dual alarms and a large snooze alarm. You'll never miss another minute of Opie and Anthony because you were still in bed.

Another innovative idea is Terk's XMRDS. Most car radios contain RDS (Radio Data Service) which can be used by local radio stations to convey a variety of information, such as song titles, etc. However, Terk realized that it can also be used for more. Using the XMRDS ($129.99) Smart Digital Adapter, you can listen to XM on any RDS-enabled head unit. The adapter receives the XM signal and "re-broadcasts" it to the RDS receiver, providing a better signal than an FM modulated system. Plus, you'll see artist, song title, and channel information right on your in-dash head unit.
