Do people still use mousepads? With optical, wireless, and gliding mice out there, the pad seems to be more of a unnecessary limitation for the modern mouse than a valued accessory. I mean, I still use my Brandenburg Gate mousepad from my 2002 trip to Berlin, but that's only because I like to look at it.

I suppose you could make the same argument for using the Wireless Speaker Mousepad, since it does look kind of slick. It's doubtful you'd want it for its gagdety usefulness, at any rate, since its purpose — playing music from your iPod, CD player, or whatever — is hampered somewhat by relying on an FM transmitter, which you'd plug your audio source into. I know the sound isn't exactly going to be high-fidelity anyway, but still. Then agin, it may have a few things going for it.

After all, it does have a built-in calculator, and theoretically it should have a minijack input (though the site isn't completely clear on that). Plus it looks pretty sleek for $30. And hey, the FM receiver lets you listen to the radio, too! That's something, right? Right?
