WAM-V is much cooler than your dinghy

wam-v

This crazy looking boat is the WAM-V, which stands for Wave Adaptive Modular Vessel. It's a tricked-out catamaran that can be configured in a number of ways depending on what it's being used for.

It holds the crew up out of the water, keeping them above all the bumps they would feel if they were riding right in the waves. This provides a much smoother ride than traditional boats that have their hulls half underwater. The pylons allow the boat to navigate very shallow waters, as they don't sink too deep into the blue.

This thing can handle all sorts of uses, from pleasure boat to marine ambulance to scuba platform to oceanographic study station. No word on pricing, but judging by how cool this thing looks I'm gonna guess it's expensive.
