There are plenty of USB MP3 players that are super cheap and super simple, but they generally lack some pretty basic functionality that makes using an MP3 player worthwhile. For example, do you feel like trying to sort through a couple thousand songs without a screen? I didn't think so.
SanDisk has just released what looks to be the finest USB-stick MP3 player yet, the Sansa Express, featuring a screen and simple controls yet keeping the size and price point at more than reasonable levels. It has 1GB of onboard memory that's expandable via a microSD slot, an FM tuner with recording capabilities, and provides 15 hours of battery life. The price? A mere $60. Not too shabby, SanDisk. It comes out in April, but you can preorder now if you're so inclined.
