As assuredly as the universe will continue to expand, shiny gadgets will keep doing the opposite, as this superflat cell phone from Samsung shows us. The Ultra Edition 5.9, part of Samsung's line of Ultra phones, is only 5.9 millimeters thick, or just under a quarter inch. That's said to be the world's thinnest, at least this week. Its other specs aren't too shabby either, sporting a 3.2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and 80 MB of onboard memory for songs and videos and stuff. Come March, the tri-band phone will be available in Europe; a U.S. version may depend on how popular the company's Ultra phones prove to be over here.
Nice progress in the slimming department there, Samsung, but I won't be happy until my phone is so thin that I can adhere it to the back of my hand. For those who get one, I hope Samsung put as much effort into making the phone flexible as it did in making it thin, lest any owner forget about it while it's in his back pocket. Oh, snap!
