Keep that loud computer hidden in the closet

extio_front_shot.jpg

Many towers, especially those with really beefed-up specs, sound like a jet engine while running. All those fans crammed in there to keep your computer from catching on fire are far from quiet, and they can really become annoying.

Well, who says you need to keep your computer in the same room as you? The Matrox Extio F1220 allows you to hide that noisy tower in a closet or the basement or something, keeping all that noise far away from you. It's got a fat pipe running between your computer to a box that your monitor(s), USB devices, and speakers plug into, making sure there's no lag due to the distance the data has to travel. It's an awesome idea that unfortunately carries a premium pricetag (likely north of $1,500). But it might be worth it if you really, really hate fan noise.
