It's direct to DVD for JVC Everio camcorders

JVC has announced the CU-VD20, a new DVD writer for use with the company's Everio line of hard-disk camcorders. Easy to use, the burner simply needs to be hooked up to the camcorder via USB cable. Now you're ready to offload the entire contents of the hard disk for your archive or burn smaller movie clips to share with friends and family. Think about it: if editing isn't your scene, you can shoot movies and spit them out to DVD without a computer… and sell them on the street! I smell a cult classic in the making. Of course, if making movies doesn't work out for you, the CU-VD20 can be used to watch DVDs instead, as long as you're connected to an Everio camcorder or monitor.

The CU-VD20 is compatible with most Everio models, however, it looks like the Everio HD cams are left behind this time. If you're itching to offload some material onto DVD, the CU-VD20 comes out in February in Japan. Shooters in the U.S. can opt for the CU-VD10US instead while waiting for the VD20 to make its way over here. Both cost about $200.
