Gadgets in the wilderness are on borrowed time. Those batteries will run out at some point, and with no power outlets nearby, you're boned, right? Not so with the SolarPort 4.4, a videotape-size solar panel that'll juice up your gadgets directly from the source of all power on Earth — the Sun. Now when you get to the campsite and realize you left your digital camera switched on the whole time it was in your backpack, all you'll have to do is jack it into your SolarPort, unfold the panels, and find a sunny spot.
Charging time will depend on your gadget, but unless you're in the desert it'll most likely take longer than using a wall plug. It's meant mainly for USB gadgets, although there's also a generic power jack if your device is compatible. You can toggle the voltage between 6 and 12 volts, and a recharger for AA batteries is in the package. The $119 asking price is pretty steep, but it beats asking the bears if you can use their outlet.
