Quikpod makes sure you're in every frame

QuikPod.jpg

Can you ever get enough pictures of yourself? Seriously — sometimes your arm just isn't long enough to get you in the frame next to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. That's where the QuikPod comes in, a lightweight extendable monopod with a head that tilts so you can take as many self-portraits as you need. We were initially skeptical about this Shopping Channel special, but it turns out that reputable camera stores carry it as well.

The catch is that you'll have to use your camera's self-timer with this accessory since the whole point is that it's longer than your arm. Plus, it probably won't work with your high-megapixel cell phone. Narcissists everywhere can sleep easy knowing that they won't have to waste valuable hard-drive space on pictures of other people anymore.

Personally I think it would be great for reaching above a big crowd; getting a downward view at parades, etc. There are probably MANY uses besides taking "self" portraits.

Well.. I could think of an extremely good use for this.
I was filming at a festival in the summer.. But when you walk backwards infront of the parade, no matter what, people WILL start walking infront of you!
Most of the time, I had to film from behind the crowd.. Killing my back!
This would be a lifesaver for me!

This thing looks handy enough for uses BEYOND the narcissistic. Getting over the crowd, shooting around corners, putting the camera in harm's way while your dainty little digits remain safe, sound and attached to your meaty palm. I can dig it.

It looks like it might be sturdy enough for a small video camera, too.
