Popalive remote relays iPod playlists to your hand

popalive.jpg

Much like the TuneView, the Popalive remote control from Alive Style can control your iPod from afar while bringing its playlists, menus, and whatnot straight to your hand via two-way RF technology. It's even more fun doing it through walls (gotta love the RF). The difference is the Popalive looks smaller and more rectangular than the TuneView… actually, until you look real close, it kind of looks like an iPod nano. Wonder how that happened.

Anyway, the Popalive comes with a dock for connecting to your stereo or TV, and it will of course charge the little sucker up while you browse. No price data yet, but the website promises a release later this month. I'd normally take that with a healthy helping of salt, but the press release is dated Dec. 9th, so maybe they mean it. We'll get you a price as soon as we hear anything.

UPDATE: And we just got that price — it's $150, which is about $30 less than the TuneView. Not bad if it works. We should be able to tell you after CES in January next year.

The idea is cool but wouldn't an RF transmitter connected directly the iPod with a reciever plugged into the stereo make more sense? I am just worried that people are going to show up at the gym with the remote instead of the actual iPod. That would stink. I dunno, the execution just seems redundent to me.
