If you either take your computer out into the field to do your work or are an enormous klutz, the Toughbook line of Panasonic lappies is right up your alley. The most badass of this notably badass line just got an upgrade, with an Intel Core 2 Duo being put in the 10.4-inch Toughbook-19 and 13.3-inch Toughbook-30.
These things are damn near indestructible, able to take bumps, spills, and drops as if they weren't highly sophisticated pieces of computing equipment. They come with touchscreens, so if you're too busy to use the trackpad you've got other options. You've gotta be really, really worried about breaking your laptop if you decide to get one of these; the Toughbook-19 will set you back $4,000 with the Toughbook-30 clocking in at a solid $4,500. Hell, you could buy two Macbook Pros for that much and just keep one as a backup for when you break the first.
