There are few things more upsetting that really sick kids, so anything that can be done to make their lives better while undergoing medical treatments is A-OK with us. The iUVO was designed for kids who are stuck hooked up to infusion systems all the time, which tend to be bulky and cold. The iUVO can deliver saline or medicine to a child but is easy to carry about, wearable like a backpack and totable like a little roller suitcase. It also doesn't look so scary and utilitarian as standard infusion systems, something that is bound to have a positive effect on their psyches.
The iUVO won a 2006 Red Dot Award for its designers, Kasper Nedergaard Sorensen and Kaspar Matthison-Hansen (two Kaspers? What are the odds?), and is an excellent example of out-of-the-box thinking bringing benefits that standard design wouldn't have. We really hope the iUVO catches on and becomes standard equipment in children's hospitals everywhere.
