I've got some bad news for all you Apple fanboys out there: the iPhone was announced today, and it's certainly a huge disappointment. The number one reason it's such a letdown? It wasn't made by Apple.
Yeah, those sneaky weasels over at Cisco have apparently had the iPhone trademark for something like a decade, so when all this hype about an upcoming "iPhone" started swirling around they quietly decided to be a bit opportunistic and release a boring VoIP phone under that now infamous moniker. So those of you hoping to be able to pick up an iPhone that's a combination of an iPod and a cellphone will get stuck with something that's neither if they go pick this guy up today. But hey, if you are in the market for a pretty standard VoIP phone to use when making Skype calls, you'll be the first (and probably last) person on your block to have an iPhone.
