Hitachi makes first DVD/hard-drive camcorder

Some fancy camcorders have hard drives built in, and some fancy camcorders can burn DVDs, but how many fancy camcorders can do both? Just one, apparently. The Hitachi DZ-HS303E features an 8-GB hard drive as well as DVD-burning capabilities, allowing you to do fun on-the-fly editing using the hard drive and then burning it to disc for easy viewing.

The one downside is the fact that the standard battery will give you juice for only 90 minutes, with an additional, bulkier battery necessary for more lengthy shoots. That's a small price to pay for the ability to both edit and burn DVDs while out in the field. The DZ-HS303E will set you back $1,300, and it's available now, albeit overseas.
