Putting things together yourself always gives you a great feeling of satisfaction and makes you feel more attached to whatever it was you built. However, some of us aren't exactly handy, and no matter how much you love that birdhouse you built even the local birds can tell it's a deathtrap. Better to stick to projects more attuned to your particular skill set.
The Tune 'n Radio comes mostly built, with all the important circuitry carefully put into place so you can't screw it up. It won't work, however, until you put in the knobs and antenna using whatever objects you can find. You also have to drill the holes for the sound to come out, allowing you to make any pattern you'd like. It's all of the benefit of building something yourself — adding your own personal touches, feeling like your hard work made it come together — without actually needing to know how to build a radio.
