Petwatch Timer: Taking care of cats the way only cold, mechanical devices can

petwatch_timer.jpg

I used to live next door to this woman who would ask me to feed her two cats while she was out of town. No big deal, although she would go out of town a lot. It's too bad the Petwatch Timer didn't exist back then, since it would have made for a great Christmas gift for… well, either of us, really. The Timer is a little station that doesn't just feed your pets while you're away — it lets you keep an eye on them, too. You can access the onboard webcam over an Internet connection and even activate a prerecorded voice command if you see Fido getting out of line with one of your shoes. It'll automatically dispense up to five meals a day, a feature you'll probably be tempted to never turn off. It can't actually walk your dog, but maybe that's to come in version 2.0. If, after you pick up a Petwatch Timer (only in Korea right now), you still have trouble taking care of your kitty or doggie, may I suggest going with a robot?
