Last night a Rollertoaster saved my life

rollertoaster

I love me the science of toast, and nothing gets me warmed up (har!) like a new way to get bread crispy. Check out this totally rad Rollertoaster. Despite having maybe the sweetest gadget name in recent memory, it radically changes the design of a kitchen appliance that hasn't changed much in the last few decades.

Oh, Rollertoaster! It's like a paper shredder for toast, but instead of shredding toast, it toasts it. Dig? You just slip that limp bread on through and watch as you get something you'd be proud to spread some butter on right into your hands. No word on if or when this thing will see the light of day, as it appears to be merely a concept right now, but it's safe to say I'd be willing to part with as much as $25 or maybe $30 for it. You hear me, toaster conglomerates? I'm a customer waiting to happen here!

In my best Austin Powers voice; "Thats the grooviest, Crumby, Idea I have heard of in a long time. I'd buy one, provided I can save back enough, bread. I think this is something for us to, toast, in celebration. Thats just so randy, baby. Oh behave!"

The heated roller idea is great, but I think the form-factor needs work. How about putting the toast in at the top and have it roll down and out the front, onto a waiting plate. The crumbs would naturally fall to a clean-out tray in the bottom!

Wow, that's super cool looking, but I don't know...

Seems to me that the top of the toast would be cold by the time the bottom of the toast was finished toasting. I would want my toast to be evenly warm so that the butter would spread easily.

I'd love to give it a try though!

If you like this, you might also like the liftmatic by Siemens, thought I'm not sure if it is being sold in the USA.

Gazzie, I believe both sides are heated at the same time, and looking at the length of the opening, it looks like you could heat two slices at the same time.
I'd love to have one of those too. Think of all the things you could make with it.....grilled cheese sandwiches (so what if the cheese melts and falls into the heating element)......frozen waffles...heck, you could pour maple syrup on top of the waffle as it's going in, and it would heat up the syrup too.
Hey how about hamburgers?.....hmmm, no that might cause a problem when the grease falls onto the elements...I'm thinking grease fire.....but hey, it would smell good while you were waiting for the fire engine.
Then there are those small pizzas...maybe a ten inch would fit in there.(might have to pass it through a couple of times thought...they take a while to cook).
There's no limit to what a person could experiment with if he had one of those.

Excellent ideas you have there and to solve your problems with cheese, fat etc... All you have to do is turn it side ways so that you are feeding the food from the top. Hence no fires!
Note: Basically, this is a mini electric version of a gas Pizza Oven.
Thanks
