Hide your speakers in a picture frame

soundart.jpg

There are two types of gadget geeks in this world: those that like their technology to be out in the open for everyone to see, and those that like their technology to be invisible. For the latter camp, there's SoundArt speakers. Custom made using the image of your choice, the speakers double as large, canvas art prints and only reveal themselves as speakers when you start playing music out of them. They're a classy way to mount speakers on your wall without looking like an AV geek (not that there's anything wrong with being an AV geek). You will need to stick the subwoofer somewhere, as that's one device that's difficult to stick into a picture frame, but if you hide it behind the couch or something you can make your entire speaker setup invisible. Classy.

I would like to point out that this is hardly a new idea. Bang & Olufsen sold "picture" frame style speakers back in the 80's. You didn't get to choose the covering material on the standard sets but with enough money you could have them recovered in the design or "picture" of your preference. After all, the front of the painting was a standard speaker grill with a clothe covering. Now back then, they could only be hardwired and I saw no mention of these being wired or wireless so I suppose that little bit of problem is still there - visible wires.

Do you know where one can find a list of the choices?
