DigiMemo A402: Jot down, then upload

digimemo.jpg

As we all know by now, the paper-free society is a pipe dream. We're always going to be jotting down notes on stickies and pads, even if those notes say stuff like, "R U GOING 2 B L8?" Still, it would be handy to bring some paper writing into the digital world, and that's just what the DigiMemo A402 wants to do. Made by Selwyn Electronics in the U.K., the DigiMemo works just like a regular pen and clipboard, except that the two of them work together to record everything you write or draw into its 32 MB of internal memory. That'll hold about 160 pages, though you can slip in a CompactFlash card to bump the capacity up to 999.

This being a British product, those are A4 pages we're talking about here, though I'm sure it wouldn't blow up if you tried it with letter size. The cool thing about the DigiMemo is that it works with any ol' pad, not requiring you to write directly on a "special surface" like some other digital pens, since the clipboard underneath takes care of that. The $210 price tag does sound a bit steep, but it would make the perfect present for that classmate who takes better notes than you do.
