How'd you like to have a compost pile under your kitchen table? That's the idea behind The Digestive Table, created by Amy Young. Featuring a hold in the center for sticking your leftovers and shredded paper, the center column goes to town on turning it into sustainable plant fertilizer. It does this by being loaded up with bacteria, worms, and snowbugs that love to break down your eggshells and pizza crusts.
Once the work of the bugs is done, the compost sprinkles out into a bag below the table all ready to be used to feed hungry plants. In order to make sure the worms are doing their jobs, there's an LCD screen embedded in the table that shows a feed from an infrared camera installed inside the table. Can you think of anything more appetizing to look at while you eat than a bunch of worms and bugs eating through last nights leftovers? Mmm, mmm!
