Some people like to fall asleep to music, but the Sonic Bed immerses you in it. Kaffe Matthews' Sonic Bed_London has built-in speakers in the elevated frame and the mattress, and when you lie down they help you get comfortable with an "endless" loop of sound. The frequencies the bed bathes you with are meant to be heard and felt, and they can be customized to produce specific sensations. You know, sort of like a light massage — what were you thinking of? At any rate, Interactive Architecture describes it as a "pleasant experience," and who are we to argue with them? Matthews' site seems to imply the bed is more design project than product, though if you contact her, I'm sure you can work out something. And even without the sonics, that's one killer design for a bed, despite its lack of floating abilities. I wonder if it comes in California King?
