The Lord helps those who help themselves, and a church in Georgia is doing just that. Pastor Marty Baker of Stevens Creek Community Church in Augusta has developed a "Giving Kiosk," essentially an ATM that keeps your withdrawals. Bringing church donations into the 21st century, the kiosks let worshipers donate directly from their ATM or credit cards. The new technology seems to work great, although there's one problem: people don't get to have everyone see them put some green into the basket when it's passed around. A simple enough problem to solve, according to Pastor Marty: some people have taken to dropping their receipts into the basket so they don't look like cheapskates. Pastor Marty has created a company to sell the kiosks to other churches for the low price of $5,000 each, plus a $50 a month subscription fee. A subscription fee for a glorified credit card reader? Amen Marty, Amen.
