Alienware's new Media Center PC: the DHS
A Series

Alienware_DHS_A.jpg

Known for its killer gaming PCs, Alienware is taking its line of Media Center machines to the next level. As is the norm with Media Center PCs, the DHS A Series model is made to look just like a digital receiver, but this guy has the goods to play the role: 1,000 watts of amplification for your home theater speakers and HDMI connectors for bandwidth-demanding HD video. Your games and apps get treated to AMD's Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processors, fresh from the factory and equipped with AMD Live… er, Live! — which is about the millionth attempt at creating a suite that "streamlines and simplifies" all your digital media. Such unimaginable organizational power can be yours early next year, when Alienware plans to release the A Series. The base model, which was on display at the Digital Life expo in New York earlier this month, has a 160-GB drive and costs a cool $1,000, but you HD packrats can configure yours to store up to 1.5 terabytes.
