Woman gets bionic arm controlled by thoughts
A woman who lost her arm at the shoulder in a horrible motorcycle accident has become the fourth person (and first woman) to become the recipient of a bionic arm that's controlled by her thoughts. By simply thinking about the banana sitting next to her arm she reaches out and grabs it for an easy peel. She still has no feeling in the arm or hand, but just being able to function more like she did before the accident is a huge relief. "I use it to help with cooking, for holding a laundry basket, for folding clothes — all kinds of daily tasks," she says. She hopes to get an upgrade in the future to allow her to have tactile feelings in the hand, making grasping objects much easier and a more natural experience. But hey, as is it sure beats a hook. I'm just saying.

Super cool---though as much as I like sharp, pithy writing, the closing comments are in poor taste and simply not funny (to say nothing of insensitive--I'm just saying).

I, for one sick bastard, appreciated the humor. I got concerned about the part about "just thinking about the banana" and the arm reaching out, grabbing and peeling it! I can foresee a number of awkward, potentially painful, and sexually-inappropriate "bionic" actions that would be undesireable.
It wasn't me, Your Honor, it was my arm that did it!! Or, oops, sorry, Miss, I didn't mean to squeeze your tit. My arm just did it on its own.

Well hey thats grovey but i have to agree with zenjim. I mean will it actually do that i know i have stood behind a very nice specimen of a man and thought about grabing his butt but would it really happen? Hmmm... Can we ask the makers? is there a way to stop that i mean its a bioniec arm...

Well as long as she can get her own shirt on and a jacket, I think it's great. (needs to be a little more streamlined at the shoulder. but hey, I'd dance with her. :-)
As for the humor, I'm physically handicaped in some ways and some times you just have to learn to laugh at it and maybe yourself to deal with that kind of pain... :-S
