Sony's new cameras sport touchscreen LCDs

Sony-Cyber-shots.jpg

What do you want in a digital camera — slim, sexy styling, or loads of megapixels? Whichever's your pleasure, Sony's got you covered with two new Cyber-shot models coming out tomorrow, according to the shutterbugs at Digital Camera Review. Up first is the DSC-T50 (left), the first camera in Sony's compact T series to feature a touchscreen LCD in back. And it's a good-size one, too: 3 inches. The touchscreen lets the T50 ditch a couple of hard buttons, and we like anything that keeps our gadgets at least looking clean and simple. You also get a 3X optical zoom and pics with 7.2-megapixel resolution.

Not enough for you? Then you want the DSC-N2, which packs a 10.1-megapixel CCD image sensor — that should do you even if you want to blow up your photos to poster size. The N2 also has a 3-inch touchscreen in back and includes a "photo album" feature, which saves a lower-res (VGA) version of any shots you take in the camera, which will stay there even after you transfer or delete the full-res one. The album stores up to 500 pictures. Internal memory is pretty bare, at around 50 to 60 MB on each, and, since they're Sonys, they take only Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick Pro memory cards. You should be able to order the DSC-T50 ($500) and DSC-N2 ($450) from SonyStyle starting tomorrow. Hmm… for that price, I'd want some wireless action thrown in, but I guess you can't have everything.
