RIM is launching its new BlackBerry Pearl 8100 on T-Mobile, the sexiest and most consumer-friendly Blackberry model yet. As slim as a RAZR, the Pearl comes with a nice 240 x 260-pixel color screen and a condensed QWERTY keypad, which should make sending e-mails a bit more time consuming but keeps the phone narrower than its all-business cousins. Rather than the traditional scroll wheel that comes on other BlackBerries, you'll get a trackball in the center for navigating through your MySpace friend requests and V1agra spam. This is RIM's first foray into the consumer market, hoping that being able to check your e-mail from anywhere will appeal to young people as much as it does to the suit-and-tie set, and of course it comes with the requisite camera and mediocre music player that are necessities in all new phones these days. Will CrackBerries become as much of an addiction for the kids as it does for your dad? We'll see, as the Sidekick already does most of what RIM is offering, but with the added bonus of Paris Hilton's approval. The Pearl will be available through T-Mobile starting on September 12th.
