Info rings save us from hassle of human interaction

information rings

You gotta love technology designed to remove as much human interaction as possible from our days, moving us closer and closer to the dream of everyone existing in private spheres, completely cut off from any legitimate human contact. Designed by Hideaki Matsui in collaboration with Jae Wan Park and Dong Ho Yung, these Information Rings might not save us from human contact, but they'll at least make interactions much shorter and less necessary. Each of the rings stores the wearer's personal information, so when a handshake puts two rings close together they exchange the stored info, making small talk and introductions unnecessary. All you need to do is shake hands, then you can study up on your new "friend" later at your convenience. To be fair, I'm being overly dramatic and this could be a cool way to replace business cards, but I just shudder at the thought of technology moving in to replace human interactions rather than enhance them. In any case, this guy is a concept at the moment, so you won't be seeing anyone doing their introductions through rings anytime soon.

Not sure that the handshake is a good idea. With the communicable virus thing, bird influenza, ecloi, all sorts of nasty stuff. I've gone to fist to fist lately, and even that's a bit much. Perhaps Spock had the right idea with the Vulcan V?

Maybe we should just pass hands in close proximity. You know like some kind of virtual handshake. lol

Extend right hand, thumb up, fingers forward and with a smooth slow chopping motion pass within an inch of the other persons hand. Bonus points for under 1/2 inch, disqualificaton for touching. Oy the things we have been reduced to.

That's scary.. I think the development of technology's too fast these days.. I don't want the day to come that people won't interact with each other anymore.. that coming from a socially inept person, I think it means alot!
