Amazon launches 'Unbox' video store

amazon unbox

Well, Amazon sure knows how to take the wind out of Apple's sails. Just a week before Apple is rumored to be officially announcing their iTunes Movie Store, it's launched an online movies store of its own called Unbox. They're selling full-length movies as well as TV shows for download, and the files you get can only be played in the Unbox software. You can't burn to DVD, so you'll be stuck watching You, Me, and Dupree on your computer or portable device. Prices are pretty similar to iTunes when it comes to TV shows, if a little cheaper sometimes. Can Amazon succeed where others have merely tread water in the pay-to-download market? And will they be able to beat Apple on its home turf? Place your bets now.

NO, Amazon can't beat them. What amazes me is that no corp. has embraced the lessons Napster taught-- and that iTunes is trying to teach.
One day.

Yeah, Amazon seems to be winning since they are the ones who are keeping up with SGA and SG1s' episodes. iTune is nearly a month behind on those episodes!
