Sony has just unveiled the Mylo, a portable media player and communications device that seems to defy categorization. Apparently not related to the failed wireless service of the same name that Sony launched in 2001, this Mylo is pure hardware. It's a media player, so it can handle your music, photos, and videos on its 1 GB of flash memory, expandable via a Memory Stick Pro Duo slot. Then it has built-in Wi-Fi, allowing you to access the Web with an Opera browser, chat it up using Google Talk or Yahoo Messenger (however not AIM for some reason), and even talk to people via Skype. Furthermore, you can share songs with fellow Mylo users wirelessly if they're in the area. A full QWERTY keyboard should make typing a much less painful experience than UMPCs like the Q1. The only thing missing from the Mylo that would make it a must-have gadget is a cell phone, but I guess you can't win 'em all. The Mylo will hit stores next month for $350.

So, pretty much. It's a device that when it has access to Wifi you can sign on messenger programs like Yahoo?
For some reason though, I was on the MSNBC site and it said that this device can also use Aol Instant messenger

Strike that, I misread it >_>; but do you think you can put that program into it? It was designed for text messengers, so why not? It makes sense to me.

Seems Sony is getting closer to my dream.... a device that mixes the PSPs capabilities with Text messaging services, plus a Camera-phone and a nice keyboard... yeah I know it sounds like the Sidekick.. but I want is Sony Syle! LOL

The picture fails to describe it's size, I thought it was PSP sized, but it's small!
Look to the Sony website;

I think sony is still missing the big market here. Cell phones really hook people. and I would assume that because you can browse the internet, you could download other messengers, like AIM or Windows Live, unless it's running some weird OS, rather than a Windows system. I kinda see this as a cross between a failed Motorola IM device that worked with Wi-Fi and short range communications between another IM handheld and an iPod with a little something extra. I think this is another Sony product that is doomed to failure. They were really lucky Blu-Ray is still out, but I think that will quickly die due to the price of the player needed.
