Philips is trying to bring tabletop gaming back to the masses, as those Ms. Pac Man tabletops from the 80's were actually pretty sweet. The Entertaible (get it?!) is a 32-inch LCD touchscreen that is meant to be installed in places like bars, hotels, and restaurants and act as a dynamic board game of sorts. Allowing people to used pieces like in traditional board games, the screen can react to moves and actions taken by the players. Yes, there's nothing I'd rather do in a social environment like a bar than play something that combines board games and cutting-edge technology. Nothing dorky about that! This is straight from Philips technology lab, so it's a concept and has about as good a chance of becoming a reality as the hanging fridge. Oh well, perhaps I'm wrong and in a year we'll all be spilling beer on Entertaibles during furious games of dynamic Risk when we go out to the bar.
