Do you ever find yourself alone in a room full of people talking into cell phones? Do you get the vague notion that your identity has been stolen and sent around the world? Well, the experimental art collective Stanza is here with Freezones to provide you with shelter from the unending rain of digital data. Lofted above the city on thick concrete shafts, Freezones are hypothetical geodesic pods that would seal you out of the information world, keeping your mind/body space free from all ID cards, cell phones, passports, and implanted data chips — they're all checked at the entrance. Now you can move the peace and quiet of Northern Maine to downtown Pittsburgh! Promising to restore self-determination to the digital traveler, Freezones may either provide the amenities for domestic living or simply serve as a rest stop — it's unclear which. Whatever their final purpose may be, Stanza plans to build 100 units and ready them for global dissemination, so don't be surprised if you see Freezones blooming in a progressive city near you.
