It looks like the recent spate of Dell notebook explosions has emboldened some people to finally come forward and tell their stories of brushes with Dell destruction. While on a fishing trip in Nevada on July 13 this year, Thomas Forqueran and a friend were packing up Forqueran's pickup truck — which had three boxes of live ammunition in the glove compartment — when he noticed flames in the cab on the passenger side, where he'd left his Dell Inspiron laptop. After fruitlessly trying to put out the fire, Forqueran and his friend dove for cover when bullets started to shoot in all directions. They weren't injured by the blaze or the bullets, but the truck, a family heirloom, was destroyed in the blaze. A Dell spokesman told Consumer Affairs the company has an "emergency response team" looking into the problem and that safety is its "number one priority." Uh, awesome. Whatever happens, we're betting 2006 will be referred to as a "boom" period for Dell, for all the wrong reasons. Thanks to everybody who sent this in!
