The mouse is a tough computer peripheral to improve upon in a useful way (check out some bizarre experiments in mouse eugenics here and here), but Logitech thinks it's got a winner in the Revolution. First upgrade: "Hyper-fast" scrolling gives the scroll wheel a free-spin mode that keeps it turning when you spin it, letting you fly through 10,000 lines in an Excel spreadsheet in 7 seconds. (Is it just me, or does that spec seem to herald an era where people will compare mice like cars?) Second upgrade: One-touch search, a small button right by the scroll wheel that you can sync with a search engine like Google or Yahoo. Highlight any word on a Web page, click the button, and your browser will automatically do a search for that term. Nice. Other "Revolutionary" upgrades are fairly underwhelming — improved ergonomics and a battery indicator on the side — but Logitech, you had us at "hyper." The MX Revolution mouse for desktops (shown) and the VX model for laptops are on sale now for respective prices of $100 and $80, Revolutionaries.
