Motorola's staying busy, launches 3 new RAZRs

three new razrs

If the RAZR family gets any bigger, Motorola is gonna need to buy a minivan. Mama and papa Moto have been busy, announcing three new slim and sleek additions to their ever-popular RAZR line. First we have the previously rumored KRZR K1, previously known as the Canary. The K1 is the true heir to the original RAZR, a bit trimmer on the waistline but taller as well, featuring a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity for pairing with a wireless headset, and a 176 x 220-pixel display. Look for it very soon at carriers in the U.S. Next up is the MotoRAZR MAXX, the K1's more feature-loaded big brother. What makes MAXX so nice is its 3.5G HSDPA connection, which is a fancy way of saying that it can download stuff real fast on Cingular's network (if Cingular makes it available, that is). Otherwise it's a touch bigger than a normal RAZR, with the 2-megapixel camera and music player controls on the outside to control the tunes you load into its built-in 50 MB of memory, expandable via a MicroSD slot. MAXX may be coming out stateside soon, we'll keep you updated as soon as we know. Last but not least is the RIZR Z3, the little sister who has to stand out from all the others by not flipping open. This is the first slider phone of the line, featuring the same camera and screen as the other new phones. It's a bit of a fatty, a touch thicker than the current RAZR v3 at 0.6 inches. The RIZR should hit U.S. stores at the same time as the K1.

Don't get me wrong, the razor obviously has some nice qualities, or it wouldn't be so popular. But I never really hopped onto the wagon, because originally the features didn't impress. Samsung has always had a great line, and finally Motorolla is trying to fill in the slack, but a little late. The Samsung A-900 has been out for a bit, and it has even better features, and yesterday (7-25-06) the Samsung A-990 went public, 3-megaP camera, up to 1 HOUR of video footage, MP3 player, new type of speakers that are very LOUD, and every other regular feature you can think of. That's the one I'm going for- why settle for a Razor, when for a few bucks I'll get the FAR superior phone with a descent camera/camcorder, good enough to use INSTEAD of a regular camera or cam-corder??? Will even these NEW Razors do that for me? Not even.
