Remember Combat, the game cartridge that came free with every Atari 2600 console that was sold back in the '80s? There was something satisfying and pure about a simple duel between a couple of low-resolution tanks, but it was definitely missing something: physical pain. What better way to demonstrate to your opponents that you totally own them by shocking them with electricity every time they get blasted by your cannon? Too bad Atari's controller weren't set up for that, but these real-life shocking tanks are set up for such automatic agony. Whenever you score a hit on your opponent, his or her controller will jolt them, much like those laser-tag shockers from a few months back. The voltage bumps up in intensity when you deliver the final blow in a game, though you have to wonder why anyone would hang onto the controller for the extra punishment if he's already lost. Honor, perhaps? Or maybe you just want to increase the chances of your nemesis agreeing to a rematch, giving you the opportunity to dispatch the volts of revenge. Either way, I'm guessing it's a good idea to remove any rings and bracelets before playing.
