Samsung SGH-A990 cameraphone this way comes

People who stare longingly across the Atlantic at the bevy of feature-rich European phones that we don't have here in the States may have less reason to be jealous when Verizon releases the Samsung SGH-A990. A swivel-display flip phone that features a 3.2-megapixel camera, the A990 comes packed with almost everything one could want from a high-end phone. In addition to the great camera functions, it comes loaded with Bluetooth, MicroSD, and EV-DO Internet access. Of course, the one thing that could spoil such a beautiful phone would be Verizon's notorious neutering of features in order to force customers to use their network. A great digital camera on a Bluetooth phone isn't that great when the only way to get photos onto your computer is to send them as picture messages to a PixPlace account rather than just sending them via, you know, Bluetooth. Hopefully Verizon will allow the phone to be used the way Samsung intended so we can stop being jealous of Europeans once and for all. Pricing and availability info for the SGH-A990 aren't available, but we'll keep you updated, and you can see another picture after the jump.
