Infrared grill: the science of perfect burgers

fuego_grill_w.jpg

Another summer weekend, another high-tech grill. The Fuego, designed by former Apple industrial design chief Robert Brunner, is an outdoor grill that allows you to cook with gas, charcoal, or even infrared heat to get that steak done just how you like it. Going the infrared route promises the heat of charcoal with the speed and convenience of gas. There's also an electronic control panel that reads the built-in thermometers on the grill to give you real-time surface temperatures. Beyond raw cooking power, the Fuego 01 is downright classy looking, with teak countertops and an expandable stainless-steel body. Modular accessories like spice racks, paper-towel holders, or champagne ice buckets can be attached to the front via a grid of holes, letting you set them up as you please. The Fuego 01 and its baby brother, the gas-only Fuego 02, will be released come this October. No word on pricing, but it's safe to say they'll be on the pricey side, so have your butler get his tongs polished in anticipation.
