Clearaudio: the turntable as expensive as a house

clearaudio_w.jpg

The argument that vinyl records sound better than CDs is made by a lot of audiophiles, and really there's no harm in keeping your records around and leaving that turntable plugged in to get that warm, analog sound now and then. But if you like vinyl enough to buy this thing… well, you might have some issues. For $125,000, the Clearaudio Statement is a 770-pound record player built around the same motor used in the Mars Rover. Yes, that Mars Rover. I have no idea what benefit a Mars Rover motor gives this thing, but I can't imagine it makes the records sound good enough to make it worth $125k. If you figure the average record player these days will cost you about $100, in order for this to be a solid value it would have to either make your records sound 1,250 times better or give you great massages while playing Piper at the Gates of Dawn. If you have a lot of money, are an audiophile, and are somewhat of an idiot, take that platinum card on over to Clearaudio ASAP. You can check out a pic of the whole system after the jump.

Yes, nothing is better than anything else, everyone should have the same sensibilities, and nothing should cost more than 100 USD. Blah, Blah, Blah...
Glad I live in a different world from you.
