Bang & Olufsen, known more for its speaker and phone designs than its forays into the medical field, now brings us the E3000 electronic stethoscope. A state-of-the-art piece of equipment, the E3000 improves on the standard stethoscope by utilizing similar noise-reduction technology that's sometimes used on consumer headphones. That way the doc can listen in on that bum ticker of yours even if you're out on a powerboat on a windy day, which is a situation I think we can all relate to. The E3000 has won numerous design awards, such as the iF Design Award 2006 and the Danish Innovation and Design in 2005, and if the Danes know anything, it's stethoscopes. The E3000 is most likely quite expensive, but if you're a doctor you can probably get your hospital to pay for it for you or something. Is that how things work? If it wasn't clear before, it is now: I'm no doctor.
